We offer our students a wide variety of co-curricular activities such as public speaking, debate and dramatics, creative writing, eco-club, quizzing, astronomy, dance, photography, philately, trekking, film appreciation and even cookery.

It is mandatory for each student at Sarala Birla Academy to be a part of at least one of the clubs.

Clubs at a glance:

Film appreciation club
Our film appreciation club is offered for students of grades X, XI and XII. The club seeks to create awareness among students about good cinema, as a serious art form from all over the world. The underlying spirit of the film appreciation club is to make them aware of the aesthetics of the art form – cinema and extend their aesthetic horizons.

Photography club
A picture speaks a thousand words. Students in the photography club learn the art and technique of photographing with a single-lens reflex camera. The objective here is to teach them the nuances of focus, shutter speed, aperture etc. Students are also given darkroom basics to supplement their knowledge.

Dramatics
Our dramatics club hones the acting skills of our students and also develops in them the ability to be more confident on the stage. Students dramatise incidents and stories. Apart from acting, emphasis is also laid on the vocal skills in English.

Public speaking
In the public speaking club, we teach our students the various techniques of speaking in public. Students get to perform in front of an audience during these sessions to get over their stage fear. They discuss and debate over diverse current issues concerning the nation, world and themselves.

Cookery club
Who doesn’t appreciate the skills of a gourmet? At SBA, students interested in pleasing the taste buds try their hands at cooking various cuisines during the club time. Some of them have won accolades at various inter school cookery competitions.

Eco club
Eco club intends to sensitise SBA members of the three R principles — Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. Awareness is created by using posters at relevant places, conducting survey on the lines of the different types of wastes generated at different places including the residences of the staff. Besides, the club is also actively involved in increasing and maintaining the greenery of the campus by growing herbal gardens and getting saplings planted by the visiting guests.

Quiz club
The quiz club at SBA helps the young minds in learning the nuances of quizzing. They meet every week to prepare questions for internal quiz competitions and collect information on various topics — sports, current affairs, history, science etc. Students are also encouraged to develop their reading habits. Every morning in the assembly, news headlines, interesting facts and figures are prepared by the club members and read out by the students.

Philately club
Our philately club members engage themselves in various philately activities like collecting stamps subject wise, exchanging stamps, preparing charts on different stamps, gathering information about stamps of varying importance. The students collect stamps and exhibit them on the Annual Day.
