US State Ambassador Visit to SBA
The Ambassador of Philadelphia to India, Ms. Kanika Choudhary, visited Sarala Birla Academy (SBA) on 23 February 2012. Ms. Choudhary is travelling in India currently, visiting a few chosen schools, to speak to the student community about the educational prospects in the state of Pennsylvania.

At SBA, she spoke in detail about how her office has taken an initiative to get in touch directly with select schools in India, to assist the students of these schools to seek admissions in the Universities across her state.

The session at SBA was an interactive one with students, parents and the staff participating enthusiastically. This is the first time that a state of the US has taken up an official initiative to get in touch directly with some select schools of the country.

Sports Fest
The Sarala Birla Academy (SBA) hockey team participated in The International School Bangalore (TISB) sports fest held in January 2012. The team won against Jain International Residential School by 4:1 and against TISB by 3:1 on their way to the finals. However, in the finals they lost 1:2 against Jain International Residential School and were declared runners up.

Master Nagarjun B Ram of SBA was the highest goal scorer of the tournament.

World Disability Day 2011 at SBA
December 3rd is 'World Disability Day'. At SBA we invited some differently-abled children to share the day with our students. They spent their time with us sharing their talents; playing tabla, painting and singing. It was a unique learning experience for our boys.

Inter House Swimming Competitions 2011-2012

Inter House Swimming Competitions were held from 8th to 12th August. The participants had a great time swimming in the slight drizzle and the crisp weather. They enjoyed playing water polo the best. Results Sub Juniors 25 meter Breast Stroke

Inter House Tennis Tournament 2011-2012

The Inter House Tennis Championship was held between 18th and 20th of August. We got to see some classy shots and the players exhibited true sportsmanship on the court. The results are as follows:

Inter House Music Fest 2011

The 8th Inter House Music Fest was a two day extravaganza held on the 29th and 30th of May, 2011. The competition was tough and each participant seemed to compete with himself. The participants and the audience enjoyed the show immensely.

Inter House Cricket Championship 2011 -12

The Inter House Cricket Competition was held from 27th April to 5th May, 2011. Some of the matches were interrupted by unexpected showers but the enthusiasm of the budding cricketers at SBA was not dampened. They played with total focus.

Inter House Hockey Competition

Inter House Hockey Competition was held between 4th and 9th February, 2011. All the players of each house participated very enthusiastically. The results are as follows:

Prayer service and farewell ceremony
The prayer service for the board classes of 10th ICSE and 12th ISC was organised on 5 February, 2011. Parents of the children were also present. It was a solemn occasion and prayers from different scriptures were read out. There was community singing. The programme was followed by farewell ceremony for the 12th Graders. The outgoing Head Boy Jay Jetani spoke about his experience at SBA. He stressed on the fact that SBA brings up the children to be future leaders and be first among equals. The outgoing boys were presented with a memento and personalised scroll. It was an emotional moment for all.
